Syringa vulgaris

Adored in many parts of the world,  this shrub’s reach is clearly seen in its name. ‘Lilac’ is French, originating from the Arabic word ‘lilak’, which stems from the Persian word, ‘nilak’ meaning ‘bluish’. A farm favourite, this species blooms with a fresh spring and honey scent.

Flower language: Symbol of first love and confidence.

Care instructions: Change water every other day, add flower food each time, and recut stems at a 45 degree angle. Keep out of direct sunlight as heat will shorten the vase life of these blooms.

Precautions: None, lilacs are not toxic and are pet friendly.
